Volunteering is a way for high school students to support younger students, earn service hours, and build leadership skills.

No Account RequiredThis website is intended primarily for adult volunteers. RPS students are not required to create an account.
No Background Check Required RPS students do not need to complete a background check prior to volunteering at RPS schools.

Volunteer Through a School Club

High school activities like Key Club and Honor Society are directly related to volunteering. Other clubs also organize group volunteer events. Visit your school's website to see what activities are available.

For students at Rochester Alternative Learning Center and MNSync Online, please check with staff directly at your school to find volunteer opportunities.

Earn a Varsity Letter in Community Service

High school students can receive a Varsity Letter in Community Service for volunteering. Students must complete 100 service hours in one year (an average of two hours per week.) This award is given by United Way of Southeast Minnesota.

Guidelines for Student Volunteers

Volunteering During School Hours
If volunteering during school hours, students must be excused from class ahead of time through their school's normal attendance process.
Visiting Other District Sites Students and Club Advisors
To volunteer at another school, students must get permission to enter that building. Students in clubs should check with their coach or advisor before volunteering at other schools.
